Happy Easter:
On this day we rejoice in the celebration of Jesus’s victory over evil and death. Jesus’s resurrection is the root cause for our faith in Him. We also rejoice that Jesus’s victory is a demonstration of the power of God to save us all from evil and death and raise us up in the company with His Son. God has bestowed Jesus’s new life on us through our faith and baptism. We have been gifted with salvation. Rejoice in this historical event and how it has affected us and tell others of this Good News.

Parishioner Meeting about Revised Mass Schedule:
Please participate in a parishioner meeting about a revised weekend Mass schedule for St. James the Apostle, Holy Cross, and St. Francis Solanus. Bishop Matano gave his blessing to our local development of a weekend schedule with one Mass each at Holy Cross and St. Francis Solanus and two at St. James the Apostle. The planning team has worked through many different scenarios and now has two options to present to parishioners for input. Today’s bulletin contains an insert including the two possible schedules, the principles the planning team agreed on, and the needs/wants of each community that had to be weighed.
The planning team is holding parishioner meetings on Sunday, April 10 after each of the Sunday Masses. Please plan to stay for a short while after whichever Mass you attend. Although the Saturday evening Mass will not change, parishioners who regularly attend it are encouraged to come to one of the Sunday meetings. The planning team will be asking for your feedback on the two proposed Mass schedules.

Religious Education:
First Penance (Sacrament of Reconciliation – Confession), will be held on Sunday April 17 at 9:00 a.m. First Holy Communion (Eucharist), will be Sunday, May 15, at the 10:30 a.m. Mass.

Women’s Guild Meeting:
A Women’s Guild meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 30 after the 9:00 a.m. Mass. The agenda includes discussing the craft sale and the communion breakfast.

Scripture Studies—The Gospel of Matthew:
A study of the Gospel of Matthew is available on Tuesdays after the 9:00 a.m. Mass at St. James. For more information phone or text Camille Taranto 607 793 7753.

Extraordinary Jubilee Year of Mercy:
The origin of the Christian Jubilee goes back to Old Testament times. The Law of Moses prescribed a special year for the Jewish people to make restitution for wrongs committed, to forgive debts owed, and set slaves free. In the Roman Catholic tradition, a Holy Year or Jubilee is a great religious event, for the forgiveness of sins and the punishment due to sin. A Jubilee is a year of reconciliation between adversaries. It is a time of solidarity, hope, justice and commitment to serve God with joy and in peace with our brothers and sisters. The guiding principle of  the year: “Be merciful just as your Father is merciful.
