First reading:
With great power the apostles bore witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great favor was accorded them all. (Acts 4:33)

Psalm:
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, his love is everlasting. (Ps. 118)

Second reading:
Who indeed is the victor over the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? (1 Jn. 5:5)

Gospel:
Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!” Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” (Jn. 20:28-29)

Live the Liturgy—Inspiration for the Week:
What does it take to believe that something is real? We live in an age of computer technology complete with things like Photoshop and other programs that can enhance photographs, create realistic images, and mimic artistic renderings. When looking at a picture of something, we find ourselves wondering if what we are seeing is real or just the result of technological creativity. Early believers came to believe because of what they witnessed in these new communities of faith. They saw people authentically living out Jesus’ command to love and to show mercy. What do people witness when they see us in action?

Catholic Quotes—Words to Inspire the Faithful:
“The greatest attribute of God is love and mercy.” ~St. Faustina Kowalska

Special Thanks:
The Easter Triduum liturgical services (Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday) were most beautiful due to the Liturgical Planning Committee, church decorators, ushers, musicians, choir, cantors, altar servers, lectors, extraordinary ministers of the Eucharist, and to those who scheduled the ministers for each liturgy. The parish is indebted to you all for the time and energy given. “Thanks” also to all who came to participate in these unique liturgical celebrations—your participation was inspirational. You are all a blessing to our parish. May God reward you many times over for the great service given to the parish.

Easter Duty:
“All the faithful, after they have been initiated into the Most Holy Eucharist, are bound by the obligation of receiving Communion at least once a year. The precept must be fulfilled during the Easter season unless it is fulfilled for a just cause at some other time during the year.” (Church Law #920) In reference to this law the Easter season is considered from the First Sunday of Lent until Trinity Sunday (this year May 27).

Please consider helping during this limited time when the food pantry relies on our parish for volunteers.
