Live the Liturgy—Inspiration for the Week:
Talitha koum. Girl, arise! Jesus said this to the dead daughter of the synagogue official, and she obeyed. Listen for his voice when you are weighed down, burdened with doubt or misery, for he says it to you, too. Arise!

Catholic Action Network – Update:
The New York State Legislature concluded this year’s legislative session on Saturday, June 8. Here is a summary of the Nonpublic Dignity for All Students Act: The closing weeks of the legislative session saw an increased effort to extend core provisions of the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA), enacted in 2010, to religious and independent schools. The core provisions would prohibit “discrimination” for a variety of reasons, including for “a person’s gender identity or expression.” This could mean that requiring students to wear uniforms, use restrooms, and play on sports teams that correspond to their biological sex could be deemed “discrimination: under state law.” In addition to direct and intensive advocacy by Catholic Conference staff, together with coalition partners, our Catholic Action Network alert generated over 14,000 emails to lawmaker urging them to reject the bill. We’re happy to report that the measure was held without further consideration.

Programs at St. James:
Sister Anne Alderman, SSJ facilitates these three reoccurring programs in the Pine Room at St. James the Apostle, Trumansburg. If you have questions about any of these programs, contact Sister Anne at 607–209–4206 or email a.alder1980@gmail.com.

This provides an opportunity for personal reflection and healing. The session closes with a time to share any reflections that came to you. You do not need to attend every session.
  • The Taizé Prayer is facilitated on the 1st and 3rd Friday of the month at 1:00 p.m.. Taizé Prayer was developed by an ecumenical community of monks in Taizé, France. It consists of readings and prayers interspersed with quiet, repetitive songs—a good way to quiet your soul and psyche after a busy day.
  • Every Wednesday at 3:15 p.m., all are invited to participate in a book study. The current book is Selected Writings by Joyce Rupp (selected with an introduction by Michael Leach).
